The boat is a scaled down version of the classic 12 Meter America's cup boat of the late 20th century. It is 12' 6" in length, one design single hull racing yacht to allow one person to sail her in close quarters, ideally over relatively smooth water. Approximately 400 were fabricated in the 1980's and are available for under $2000.00. There are several fleets in the USA. We sail them year round in the San Francisco Bay Area. The fleet is located at the Encinal Yacht Club on Alameda island. Racing takes place 1-2 times a month throughout the year. Our National Championships are held in late August. As a one-design class, the boats are very evenly matched and the skill of the skipper determines the outcome of the racing.
